WHO DAT!?!?!?!

« on: October 25, 2009, 09:37:17 AM »

Does anyone have bellsouth email? I've tried to set it up but no luck.   Sad  I have tried what cemeb4dk posted but with bellsouth instead of yahoo.  This is what I had to do with my Instinct.

** I posted a reply not sure what happened to it

ENter it as a pop mail address

enter in user name and password
then manual enter info

on the incoming mail server type  mail.yahoo.com
security off

then on out going  type smpt.yahoo.com
security off

That should do it

I have called tech support and they are about as smart as a bag of seaweed.  Angry  I fear the techs in store are not much better.  :Smiley  If anyone has got bellsouth to work post up.  Cookies are in the oven as I speak.   Cheesy

Hey Boosted sorry I have no info to help.  Not sure why the hero wont recognize other email providers.  But just to tell you what I did.  because I had comcast, I could view my emails and delete from phone but they would still actually be in my comcast inbox on my PC.  So I had to go thru all my email basically twice it was a real pain.  So what I eventually ended up doing was forwarding my comcast account to my gmail account, and I now get near instant notification of an email plus when I delete on my phone the entire email is truely deleted.

Like I said this is not the fix but man I have enjoyed this way much better.  I hope they make it easier for alternate providers emails to work.

**  If I remember correct did some one not find a fix in a thread here about the yahoo emails, not sure if its the same or not but maybe it will work for yours.

It's cool bud, I have the emails forwarded to my gmail account right now so I at least get them.  My Bellsouth account is only for work so it's not that important. LOL I just wish it would connect tho. I read also to set the incoming server to smpt.sprintpcs.com that did not work either.:S

**UPDATE**

After a couple of days fighting with this I was finally able to get it to work.  If anyone has a bellsouth email address, this is the correct info to set it up.

Incoming Server Name   mail.bellsouth.net

Security type     None

Incoming Port #   110

Outgoing SMTP Server Name   fmailhost.isp.att.net

Security type     SSL

Outgoing Port #   465

After you do this update your PRL and your Data Profile.  Then restart your phone and this should allow you to receive and send email from your bellsouth account.
