g mail in the mail box

I had yahoo e mail going into my e mail box with very good success.  I decided to transfer my yahoo mail to a new g mail account. This now allows me to use g mail, g calender, and g task, and contact.  eliminating outlook as my main source of information. My g mail will not load into my mail box the same as yahoo did.  All g mail goes into the built in g mail box instead.  I can no longer use the flip card widget as I did with yahoo.  My mail box says no mail in that box but the g mail box is full.

 Error comment " cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information.  Your server is not responding".

 Called sprint they were no help they told me to get with google. Hep
