Hey, the same thing happened with my Windows Live account.  I ended up deleting the account and setting it up again.  I haven't had any problems since doing so.  Hope that helps.

I've got the same problem. I asked Windows Live Mobile customer support and was told to use the following settings:

. Go to Mail icon. If this is the first time you've setup any mail service on the Android, you will be prompt to enter in a username and password.  Enter in your Hotmail email address and password
. Click on the Manual Setup at the bottom left corner
. In the incoming server setting, entering as followed
 User Name : user@hotmail.com
 Password : your email password
 Incoming Mail Server : pop3.live.com
 Security (Port) : SSL
 Port : 995

. Press next to continue with SMTP Server. Once on that screen, enter in these settings

 Email Address : user@hotmail.com
 User Name : user@hotmail.com
 Password : your email password
 Outgoing Mail Server : smtp.live.com
 Security (Port) : SSL
 Port : 25 or 587 (Recommended 25)

. Now click through next and fill out the name, etc. You are done. You now have Pop3 setup on your Android for your Hotmail Account!

I tried this. But it still doesn't work. after putting in the smtp password I get the following error msg "Cannot connect to mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding."

I have reset phone by pulling battery. I get same result. any other ideas?
thanks

Somewhere else I someone recommeded these settings:

Protocol: POP
POP Server: pop3.live.com
Security Type: SSL
Server Port: 995
Login required: <Checked>
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Security Type: TLS
Server Port: 587

For this one, I get no error message. hitting "refresh" results in no new emails even though I know I have some which I can see from PC browser.

BTW gmail account is working just fine on the phone.
