Ok I uninstalled all but like 5 of my apps and I ran the taskkiller app, closed down all running processes down to around 6. And I only have about 19 mb of space left on my phone. Is that normal? Bcz the low mem warning comes on around 12.

Something is taking up a lot of memory because I've had more then ten apps and still had over 100 mb of memory. Go to settings then manage applications and see which is using all the memory

thats the thing. i went into the app manager and even sorted them according to size and got rid of the big ones, even though the biggest one was like 5 mb. there is nothing in there that is taking up that much room. Could it possibly be something that is buried in the phone that i would need a app for to clear out, or do you think that one of my apps or something on the phone is easting up memory. i cant really think of anything that would be on there that would eat up that much mem. although, i havent really owned that phone but for a little over a week now and i really dont know what kind of quirks it has yet. mainly im just wondering if this was a common prob or not.

this not a common problem...have you tried a complete reset?  It sounds like a virus...or an issue with the memory management..

well when you give the application so many permissions, it is possible something could get into your phone. What applications did you get?

I'm not sure if there are any known viruses on the Android OS yet, but I think that a memory management problem is more likely.

I know this is semantic but the use of the word virus has the fell of being somewhat alarmist.  I think there is a MUCH greater possibility there is a memory leak in something that you have installed. On the outside there could be some sort of Malware but, even that sounds unlikely

Just bear in mind most of the apps in the store are open source projects developed by extremely small teams. As such, there is a much higher likelihood that the people who purchase them are more akin to alpha testers, in some cases, than consumers.

I hope i haven't offended.  Embarrassed I think the distinction is an important one. Cheesy

No offense taken. I agree with you that it probably is not a virus. I did some research on the web and could. Not really find anything solid about viruses either. If it is a mem leak though, how would I go about finding it? I downloaded some app managers but was unable to find any large files or folders. Maybe I need something more powerful?

You could do a factory reset and reinstall the apps yo see which one is leaking. Then report it so nobody else has that same problem.

Turn your phone off then hold the menu and back keys and then press and hold the end key and follow the instructions on the screen
