Just barely got the HTC Hero yesterday. Right now the only thing I'm doing to close is is pressing home. But isn't it still running in the background? Doesn't that waste battery power or memory or something? Like if I'm watching a video and I decide I'm done using the internet, doesn't seem efficient to just press home to be done with it.

thanks for any help

Android phones are designed to have everything run in the background. That is a selling point of the phone. Lots of people use a task killer app to stops apps that they aren't using. I don't use a task killer and my battery usage is fine. However, if you are interested search the forum and you will find the discussion(s) on task killer apps.

I recommend you download the Advance Task Killer because it will save a lot of battery when you need it the most.
