Yep. You can install the drivers that are on the memory card in the HTC Sync folder and then under wireless, select share this connection (or something like that) or you can use PDA Net. If you search for modem you will find the entire discussion on this forum. I couldn't get the native app to work but some have with no problem.

For those of you having problems tethering...It did take me a few times clicking on and off of the mobile network.  What I decided on the last try was to turn on the mobile network and then mobile network sharing then when the pop-up about the usb being off came up I did not click it.  Then I noticed that the 1x came up then I continued on with the directions.  Hope it helps.  BTW this came from another forum (android forums just to give credit where it is due).

Just passing along the info for those that didn't know. It's not a complete tethering solution but it's working.

[GUIDE] USB Tether Sprint HTC Hero CDMA!
Setup: (This setup is not required but is what I have running when it works)
I downloaded HTC sync 2.0.4 from
http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportViewNew...31&news_id=222
Install HTC sync
Backup the Driver folder from Program File>HTC>HTC Driver
Now Uninstall HTC Sync, You only want to keep the Drivers for MNS.
Now plug in your phone go to Settings>Wireless controls
Turn on Mobile network
Turn on MNS or Mobile Network Sharing
It will try to connect but fail instead leave it. Now on the Computer it should ask to install the Android phone drivers, in this case choose manual install and point it to the drivers in the folder you just backed up.
If it doesn't ask you to install simply go to hardware management and install it manually from there.
Also I am running vista 32bit on my laptop.

Method:
Now this method works by taking advantage of a race condition in the phone.
Essentially you want to get MNS to establish a connection to your computer BEFORE the mobile network can establish a connection with internet. (Hence where signal strength and lag play a key roll)
Make sure wifi is turned off, make sure you are plugged into the computer and have installed the MNS drivers, I have USB debugging enabled but i don't think that makes a difference.

Steps:
1. Turn off Mobile Network and MNS
2. Go to Mobile network settings
3. Select Mode of Operation switch to 1x-only
4. Go back one page
5. Turn on Mobile network
6. Quickly Turn on MNS also
7. If MNS connects before Mobile network you should be tethered now If not turn off Mobile network and MNS and repeat steps 5-6.
8. If successfully tethered go back to Mobile network settings and turn Mode of Operation back to Evdo or Hybrid.

Screen shots or it didn't happen!

Another piece of info in case you're still having problems.

At that point, go back to the phone settings and turn on Mobile network and MNS. Make sure you are connecting with 1X only. Once connected, you can change it to Hybrid.

Worked for me. Hopefully this helps someone!

I've noticed eaqch time I reconnect that I need to change the wireless mode back to 1x - let it connect to mobile network - then change it to EvDO.  Don't forget to switch back to Hybrid when done so you do not have problems with the phones internet itself.  I surfed for some time today.  Not bad speeds either.  I know alot of what I surfed was cached info but some was not and speed was good enough for what I would need.  Wish I would have found that info a little over a week ago while I was out of town.  Oh well good to go now.
