not unless they are running. they just take up internal storage. I usually uninstall if i'm not gonna use it, just because i'm always combing through the marketplace.

also, are you running a task killer? or task manager? That will tell you if it's running or not.

ok because some apps, like photoshop mobile would auto-start, before the recent update.
The problem with the Hero is that if you open an app, it stays open until you "kill" it. it won't necessarily drain your battery, but it could. that's why so many of us run a task killer or manager. I personally use Advanced Task Killer, it gives you options to ignore certain apps, and always leave them up, (like my alarm clock won't run unless i keep the clock widget running). One thing I also noticed that I wouldn't have before is that when you turn your phone off and then on, almost all apps load in the background. I'm not sure why it does this, but with task killer, it's the first thing i do when i turn the phone on.

The fact that apps continuously run and auto start when the phone starts is a feature of the Android OS and not specific to the Hero. The OS is designed to keep apps running and ready to go when you want to use them. Some people like this feature and some dislike it. After the update, I don't have a Task Killer installed and I feel that my battery life is fine based on how I use my phone.

Same here. I have not installed Task Killer after I replaced my Hero and applied the update. I am getting at least, double the battery life now. Very happy.

Photoshop Mobile is still autostarting for me. I can kill it, but it just starts again.

This has already been discussed on this forum. After the update, I find there is no need for a task killer app because my battery life is sufficient.

Hey forum. After the update my battery life definitely improved, it was great. However, I find that the battery life is "depleting?" for lack of a better word. I could close out programs with the Advanced Task Killer, then go right back in to it and other programs "i don't want running" are running. So I keep doing the ATK to try and keep my battery life up. Any thoughts of why these programs would "randomly" run? Ex. Yesterday I cleared running programs, reopened ATK and sprint navigation was running even when I never turned it on. Thanks in advance.
