I've been having trouble setting up my Exchange server on my HERO Phone.  Long story short I found that the issue is related to a SPACE in my username.

The way it's set up on our exchange server is Domain/Fname (SPACE) Lname

i.e. Company/Four Rings
i.e. HTC/John Brown

So I called and found out that HTC does not support a space in the Username thus I am not able to set up my Microsoft ActiveSync.

Does anyone know a work around to this... or a Hack... or the best if there is an update to resolve this issue?

I called HTC support and they simply said they do not support a Space in the username because it's not that common.  I agree it's not that common, however ALL other Android phones (aside from HTC phones) (DROID on verizon) respect the space in the user name.

My life is revolved around my ability to work off my phone!!  HELP!!

I Googled your problem. See if any of this helps -

*Edit - Here's another. Read them all you might find a solution. One response states:  %20
hex ascii representation of a space character.  But I don't know if they are being serious or not.
