Sprint has decided the Evo will be the only Android phone getting updated and is leaving Hero and Moment users behind to rot.  The only way we can update it is by rooting and using other roms (which is a lot of work and hassle). Another sad day for Sprint...

Have you actually tried custom ROMS and rooting? If not, give it a shot, super easy and even for non-computer techies it is virtually effortless.  Try it, got XDA developers site and learn up how easy it is to accomplish. 2.2 will be ported on on my Hero as soon as its available.
