Second one at BB to get mine today. At home with it now. Haven't done anything but flick around the home screen. About to sit down with the guide and get going. If you have yours share your initial thoughts. I am personally happy with the UI. Very smooth so far. Bye Bye Instinct!

My granddaughter and I were first in line at our local Best Buy this morning and have been playing with our Heroes ever since. Having a great time learning as much as we can before softball tonight. We got all of our contacts and calendars synced for both of us. Love the Voice Dialer! We are both very pleased with our phones - thanks Sprint!

Got my Hero yesterday at Best Buy and didnt even Pre order it. I traded in my Instinct HD for it. So at my best buy I was the first HD sold, first one returned then the first Hero out the door.
Its my first android phone and it blows the instinct out of the water in basically everything except for the camera, but I'm not buying a phone as my primary camera anyways.
There is no lag, it just transitions so smoothly, downloading apps is a breeze, setting up the phone is super easy and I'm not to tech savy.
The only I have to say is the keyboard is smaller on the Hero than the HD, but I like the feedback and word prompts on the hero, so in time I will adjust quickly. Also BB was not able to transfer my contacts over for some reason so I had to do it manually. I also like that you can link your facebook friends profiles to their contact. My wifes pre does this but its an all or nothing or at least thats the only way we could do it. This one you can take each friend and link it only if you want.
Overall I am very happy with the phone and looking forward to learning alot more about it.
Oh one more thing I did not get a Micro SD card adapter with mine. Did anyone else?

There is no SD adapter required for the phone's MicroSD that is already installed. I am not sure why you would want one, but you may have one from another card that you purchased for something else.

Just traded my HD for the Hero yesterday and so far I like the Hero a lot better. Hero feels like a rock. This is my first Android phone and I am still getting used to it. If you like tons of apps and like to do things your way then this phone is for you, but if you don't care for apps much then the Hd is a great phone. The Hd is much more user friendly than the Hero. I don't think there is a more user friendly phone that the Instinct. I can't seem to get the voice dial to sync with my Jawbone Bluetooth like it did with the HD. I have to use the phone to dial then it connects to the bluetooth. On the HD, I just had to press the talk button on the bluetooth and say the name of the person I wanted to call and I was connected. Not a big deal, but I guess you just can't have everything on a phone. Battery life is significantly better on the Hero than the HD or the Pre. With the Pre and Hd I don't think it ever lasted more than 5 hours without having to charge it and I am not a heavy user at all. Mostly just check emails and talk about an hour a day. The Hero battery life lasts well over 8 hours without having to charge it. Obviously if you are a heavy user the batter won't last that long. I still cannot get my exchange email on the Hero or the HD and not sure why. I had no problems on the Pre, but just had to press a four digit code everytime to use the phone. Must have to do something with my work exchange email. Being a smartphone, I thought my exchange email should not be having any problems. I will have to call Sprint to see if they can help me out with this. Is anyone else having this issue? The call and reception quality is excellent where I am at. I am able to make calls in my office with the Hero which I was not able to with the HD or Pre. Camera works great, but the HD does have a better camera than the Hero. Both take very clear pic, but HD had a very bright flash where Hero has no flash. Not a big deal for me. I think after trying the Pre and the HD, I will stick with the Hero and stop making exchanges at Best Buy until my 12 months is up. Gotta love being a Sprint Premier customer....

Thanks Sly for your review. I am seriously considering trading my HD in for the Hero but am really still on the fence. I'm not crazy over apps, I guess because after being an Instinct user for this longer they never really mattered. How does music sound coming out of the speaker, and how do the vids look?, especially Sprint TV and youtube.... I guess these two things would be the deciding factors for me.

Speaker sound is awesome. I just had a two hour drive and had car radio off and listened to pandora thru the speaker. Plenty loud enough. Video quality is great also.

Felix- You won't regret switching. The only reason to keep the HD is if you just wanted a simple user friendly phone with minimal apps and one of the best camera. I figured the Hero to will be simple to use in time and that is because I am new to the Android family. The Hero is the real deal!! I'm very glad I got it. Now if I could just get the voice dial to sync with my bluetooth. That is the only thing the HD has over the Hero in my opinion... Being able to hit the talk button on the bluetooth and say the persons name and be connected was a really cool feature on the HD.... LOL

Traded the original Instinct for the Hero yesterday. I have been customizing and just learning all the features and customizations available on this phone. I already had a quick page load battle against a co-worker with an Iphone and the Hero loaded the apple.com page twice as fast. His high point was being able to double click to zoom on a web page. A 5 mp camera, removable battery, flash support, and removable storage are all in the Hero's favor. Plus not being tied to At&t or Itunes is great.
Only thing I didn't expect was signing up for my gmail account would load my contacts with every person I ever emailed, most being now defunct college accounts.
Also, I noticed that the album shows the thumbnails for every photo or video anywhere on the sd card. I had forgotten I had some stashed in folders where the old Instinct couldn't get without Opera. Yeah I had to delete.

I too traded in my Instinct HD for the Hero today. Have not had much time to get used to it but so far its everything I thought it would be. Very snappy, highly customizable, and just a much better user interface than the Instinct. Quite a steep learning curve as the Hero is not nearly as simple as the Instinct is but I am sure I will get used to it and will enjoy having the extra headroom. So far its a joy.
