This is a new phone for me, and I'm a little stuck on something.  I purchased an 8g micro SDHC, but it is not reading it, nor is my computer reading it.  I even put it in my adapter and plug it into my computer and it doesn't show that it even exists.  My son took the card and plugged it into his cell, and it read it.  So I know that the card is working.  The very first time I put the card in I did format it, but that is it.  Then it just sort of disappeared.  I worked on this thing for hours the other night.  Finally I took it down to where I bought it and they were no help at all.  He didn't even know how to open the phone, less know anything else.  Any suggestions would be VERY appreciative.  I'm about ready to buy one more card to see if it works, but I thought I might try here first.  Could it be that it is HC?  I'm so confused on this.
Thanks

If your computer isn't reading the card, it's probably because formatting it messed it up and/or it was defective from the factory. If no device is acknowledging that the card is plugged in, there is nothing that you can do with it. Throw it out and start over. When you put a card in your phone if you are not show a message that asks you to format the card, there is no real reason to do it. I've have many cards and I only format them when there is a problem. Formatting, just because of what it is, has the ability to reduce the life of the card.

I guess I'll get me a new card once again and try it out.  I won't format it this time.  I was worried that it was because it is an HC card.  So I take it you have had HC cards?  Thanks again.

What is this HC that you are referring to? Is it the type of card - Micro SDHC? If so, an SD card will not fit in your phone. The only card that will fit is the Micro SDHC.

If HC means something else, please let me know and I will try and help.

HC means "HIGH CAPACITY".  Anything over 4 gigs will have "HC" on the card.

I would just return the card and try a new one.  I have had a 2, 8, and now a 16 gig card in my Hero with no problems.

Thanks once again.  I haven't went out to buy my new card yet, decided to get sick instead. Sad  Hopefully tomorrow I can though.  Thanks for all the info.  Yes, I did mean Micro SDHC.  I did not know that high capacity was in every card over four gigs though.  That is nice to know!  The guy where I bought the phone was blaming it on the card being high capacity.  Since some of you use it on your hero, I now can ease my mind and just go get me a new one!

Thanks!

You're welcome, I know what you mean about being sick.  I just got over having pneumonia.  REALLY fun month, let me tell you.  Undecided  I have decided from now on I'm NOT deciding to get sick ever again.   Now if I could just convince my kids to leave those cooties at daycare my problems will be solved.   Cheesy

Are there any instructions on upgrading your SD Card?  I just bought a 16g for Sprint Hero and have alot on the current 2g card I want to transfer over.  Will I have to format the new one?  How do I get the stuff from the 2g to the 16g?
Thanks, I'll wait for replies.

Connect your phone to your computer and in Notifications (the menu that you slide down from the top of the screen with your finger) on the phone, select USB Connect, then select Mount. Now you can see the contents of the phone drive on your computer. Insert the new micro sd card into the sd card adapter that came with it. You can now insert this adapter into your computer or if you don't have an SD card reader in your computer, you can insert the adapter into a usb card reader. Once the phone is connected with the 2gb card accessible and the new 8 gb card is connected and accessible, simply copy and paste from the 2gb to the 16gb.

After copy/paste is complete, go back into Notifications on the phone and Unmount the SD card in the phone. Then I would suggest you turn the phone off and swap the cards. As far as formatting, I think it is a matter of personal preference and not one that I use. However, I suggest that you copy/paste instead of cut/paste just in case something goes wrong. You might also be wise to put the files from the 2gb on your desktop as an additional method of backup until this process is complete.

Questions? Ask:)  Good luck.
