A new Hero user completely lost!

Hello and greetings from a new comer.

I bought a HTC Hero after reading about it and being one who abhors any Apple. I need all the help from this forum. Suffice to say I am 90% lost! I even have trouble registering here as I used Firefox and it does not show where you type in the given letters. Thought I might try Chrome and so here am I.

I had a lot of trouble buying the unlocked Hero to start with, then I had trouble connecting to the wifi of my router. Now I have trouble updating to ver. 2.1 and to set ringtone to individual contacts.........and so on.... and so forth......

Now I shall look around and seek collective wisdom. Thank you new friends.
