I am a bit perplexed by the pricing and cancellation policies that Google has put into place. 179 for a new Tmo customer, 279 for a customer who adds a Tmo data plan, 379 for an existing customer who upgrades their data plan. Then, if you decide you don't want the phone you have to cancel the phone with Google and send it back to them and even if you are within the cancellation period you will have to pay something. You also have to cancel your service with Tmobile. If you engrave the phone, you'll lose 80 bucks when you return it.  I don't know, this just seems to counter to the way that every other cell phone manufacturer/service provider has done business up to this point.

What's the hype really? Reviews are saying this phone offers little that isn't in 2.1. According to Engadget it not really that much faster than the Droid. Two pluses, it takes nice pictures and has a larger screen but is that worth have to deal with Google and Tmo. I can see the finger pointing already when you call for help. You aren't buying the phone from Tmo so what is their concern if it doesn't work? You have a signal...right? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

So you buy the phone but its not yours?

It seems that no matter what, you have to send the phone back to Google when you are done with it. A very different way of doing business. There are some who are asking if this is going to start something in the world of cell phones and the providers relationship with the phone manufacturer.

define what you mean by subsidized, i know what it means, but not sure what your referring to, i don't see why you have to return it to google, if you get it through t mobile and cancel or downgrade service within 120 days, they charge it to your debit/credit card

You know when you buy a phone at a lower price with a 2 year contract... the phone still cost 500 bucks. The carrier subsidize it because you are going to stay with them for 2 years.

About why you have to return it... i dont know. He says its Googles new way of doing business in the cell phone arena...

the NeXus may be better, but i don't believe those details, you don't have to return it to google ? ? only if you cancel within 120 days, and even then they charge your debit card for the full price of the phone, so you keep the phone from what i understand.

I'm just delivering what is being repeated all over the Internet. Go to the Nexus website and the terms of service are right there for you to read.

Here's the lastest from PC World:
