Just got back from Best Buy to swap out my HTC with Google for an HTC without Google (it's what the guy pulled out of the cabinet). The reason for the exchange is that I went from Florida to Illinois this week and my text messages took forever to send/receive. I thought it was just the area that I was in and a weak Sprint signal. However, when I can home today, it only got better sporadically. Then, I find out that I was not getting my calls. The phone was ringing the requisite number of rings for the caller but I didn't hearing anything and the phone never acted as thought a call was coming in. I did a reset and nothing changed. When I first got that phone someone said they called me and I never heard the phone ring.....I guess that was my first warning sign. Hopefully, this one will be the charm because if it's not, I'll have to go through Sprint and get a refurbished one..ugh.
I still LOVE the Hero. I even looked at the Moment while I was there but HTC Sense really makes this phone pop.

So I would really love to figure out why random apps like Navigation and Weather (that eat up tons of battery life) turn on by themselves. I use my appkiller to make sure everything is off, I'll check a text message or make a call and BAM!, navigation is on...what's the deal with this?!

Ok, here goes. My issues deal with Bluetooth, when I listen to voicemails I can't hear it through the headset. To listen on my headset I actually have to call my voicemail. Also the only notification that I get on my headset is for phone calls. On my previous 3 phones I would hear a notification on the headset for text, emails and calendar events. Seriously how hard is it to that??

I cant schedule bi-weekly appointments in the calendar. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Also, can you set the phone to automatically check to see if your contacts also have facebook accounts (assuming that you dont already know their facebook info)? My husband's blackberry does this.

I haven't had the issue of call waiting, or three way calling. The accelerometer will be faster as soon as HTC and Sprint release donut.
donut??

Actually: Donut=1.6 Eclair=2.0 Our phones all have the dubious distinction of being the most outdated Android units on the market, we're still running 1.5 cupcake! LOL! Even more funny, i'm watching Baking with Julia Child.

ok why the voicemail widget doesn't have some kind of notification when you receive a vm, i see the one up top but why not have it the same like when you get a text message or email where the widgets get a green little number notification..i think boo5ted might have mentioned this before.

What I said was dealing with the Bluetooth. Figured it out though, my headset was not ad2p or whatever it is. I bought a new headset and it now plays in my ear. A little green number would be nice on the voicemail icon.

I'm also having battery and texting issues like someone else mentioned. I barely use this phone and I still can't make it past one day, is this normal?
My friend texted me an hour ago and I still haven't gotten it. It makes me wonder what else I've missed.
Before your day ends, find the recent update. AND TWO, your texting problem is Sprint's fault. Really now, former Instinct users, there IS a learning curve with the Hero. I find out more from browsing Android sites, as this one reminds me so much of instinct-samsung. dumba$$. I'd at least like a little cheese with my wine, get it?

Yeah, this site is leaving a little to be desired as far as I am concerned. I too have resorted to the going to other sites to get the information that I want. The phone comes with a manual and it seems that few want to read it. I feel that some want to turn on the phone and then ask every single question here on this forum. I don't mind helping when the person has tried but "how do I...." when it has already been answered or is obvious is getting a little old.

It appears that the inevitable has already happened to this forum. The most knowledgeable folks who have been helping others have begun to reach their limit of sanity for new users. Someone mentioned manual. Does this Hero come with a manual? Perhaps it's the kid in me, but manuals are a last resort to a Google search, which is how I found this site. So, guys, thanks so much for helping answer newbie questions, please continue to do so. And, as a suggestion, post a great big ARSE search feature button on the home page with a nice title like, "Before you ask your questions, please search first because in all likelihood, it's been answered more than once."
