Hello All...my very first post in the "Helping Others Out" kind of sense.

I saw this on a different site http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f23/hide-pics-and-videos-from-the-video-player-and-pictures-11734/ ...and thought it was worthy of sharing...credit must go to keshrad from that site for this wonderful workaround.  Please follow the link there for some extra discussion.  See quoted, below for your new Tip...

"1. Download "astro" from Android markets.
2. Open astro
3. Press menu. Press "new directory"
4. In "enter new name", name anything starting from ".", for example ".photos", or ".videos", and press create.
5. Mount your G1 to computer
6. Open your new "dot...." file and you put whatever you wanna out. The files put in this folder will not be detected by video player and picture viewer!! Hurrah!!!
To view your photos or videos, open astro, open "dot...." folder and watch all the videos and see all the photos. "

Thanks to keshrad, this opens up a new world to us!

Now, although this helps a ton, I noticed there was no way for me to watch these pics on slideshow any longer since the Astro Viewer only lets you scroll, and incidentally will not allow you to enlarge the photo, while the innate viewer only allows you to see one pic at a time and will let you enlarge, but I want it all!!!  Smiley  So I came up with my own workaround...bear with me, as I don't do instructionals ever...

To get to your new album for temporary viewing as you would an existing album, try this...

1:  Within Astro, find your new "." folder and long press your new directory
2:  Select "Edit" and then "Rename" and name it without the "."  This turns your new directory into a viewable folder.
3:  Use whatever icon or widget on your Scene to access your Albums and voila, there's your album of pics, ready for enlarging and/or slideshow.
4:  Don't forget to rename your folder using the same process in step 2 and insert the "." to make it hidden again when you're done viewing.

This also work for videos.

TIP:  Create a bookmark within Astro to find your "." folders faster, although remember, it's a bit less "hidden" when you do this as it leaves a bit of a paper trail.

Now, with all the magic of Android, you can play around with your widgets and have a blast with Photo Album and Photo Frame.

Happy Hiding! Wink
