Hi,
  did the update thing the other day and the phone will not boot up. its in a constant loop between the 'htc quietly brilliant' screen and the 'orange screen' Will not go any furher
Any help please.

What carrier are you on?  You might have to boot into recovery and do a system wipe and start over.

thanks,
called htc to return the phone for repair. was offered to try the factory reset thing with the 3 buttons. phone rebooted ok and it has been ok since.
